1973
- Creation of the company Golf des Alpes Vaudoises SA (an initiative of the Villars Tourism Office and the Commune of Ollon)
- After a long and difficult search, the Company acquires land above Villars, at Plan du Four, on the ski slopes, to immediately undertake the construction of a course of 3, then 6 and finally 9 holes ( Harradine plans).
- The Company is administered by Mr Marcel Chevrier and Mr André Simar (both hoteliers), Mr Willi (Director of the Tourism Office) and Mr Jean-Louis Chable (golf pro and Director of the Ski School)
1977
- On 7 June 1977, a General Assembly of the Club (until then, dormant !) appoints a new committee:

- Conversion of an Alpine chalet into a clubhouse and construction of an access road to the golf course

- A wind storm destroys our first clubhouse !

- Work to convert another Alpine chalet into a new clubhouse
- Restaurant operated by Mr Eric Flammarion and Mr François Luisier
- New Captain: Antoine Adler, who succeeds Louis-Charles Seeholzer
1987
- Number of members: 350
- First study to expand the course which, at 28 ha, is expected to increase to 55 ha, still 18 holes
- Creation of a new parking area
1989
- Number of members: 380
- Gustave Chable, the new head golf pro, succeeds his father, Jean-Louis Chable
- Submission (preliminary examination) of an expansion project to the Cantonal Department: it is envisaged to move from 55ha to 90ha or an 18-hole, par 64 (about 4000 m) to an 18-hole, par 72 (6200 m), plus a 9-hole «compact» course.
1990
- Number of members: 420
- New restaurateur: André Corthésy, successor to Eric Flammarion and François Luiser
- After having organized a competition for architects to design our planned expansion of the course, a mandate is given to Thierry Sprecher, a French golf course architect (Meribel, Servanes, etc.).
- A General Assembly of the Club and the Company ratifies the planned expansion of the course, which is estimated to cost CHF 12'000'000 .--
1991
- Number of members: 430
- On 1 September 1991 a fire (criminal!) completely destroyed our clubhouse. This occurred on the evening (Sunday to Monday) that closed our usual Pro-Am, a successful competition with a cast of champions such that Alain Prost, Jacques Lafitte, Patrick Tambay, etc. ..
1992
- Number of members: 450
- Study project (architectural competition) for the construction of a new clubhouse
1993
- Opposition of the WWF and the League Vaudoise to our golf course expansion project
- Agreement to a loan of CHF 3'500'000 . – from the Cantonal Tourist Development Fund
- Serge Kohli, new captain, succeeds Anthony Adler
- Purchase of a plot of 204'000 m² of land, required for the expansion of the course
1994
- Withdrawal of objections from the WWF and the League Vaudoise
- Finalisation of the public inquiry to planned expansion of the course
- Construction of a new clubhouse (cost: approximately CHF 3'000'000 .--)
- Purchase of new land
1995
- Jacques Magnenat, new captain, succeeds Serge Kohli
- End of construction of the new clubhouse
1996
- Receipt of building permits for the expansion of the course
1997
- The Extraordinary General Meeting held on 01.02.97 gives its agreement to undertake the first stage of expansion, being 9 new holes, 9 «compact» holes and moving of the driving range, for a total cost of CHF 3'700'000 .--
- Number of members: 423
- On 12.07.97, the Club celebrates its 75th anniversary !
1998
- During the General Assembly held on 27.06.98, the club awards the architect Thierry Sprecher the work for this first stage of expansion, work that is granted to a consortium of two companies. The site opens in July 1998
- Jean-Louis Chable, our former pro and an honorary member dies in December 1998
1999
- Marco Cannilla new restaurateur succeeds Andre Corthésy
- Number of members: 387
- Bankruptcy of one of the two members of the building consortium! The other member, the company La Giada (Italy), assumes the remainder of the work to expand the course
2000
- Medou Rebzani, new restaurateur, succeeds Marco Cannilla
- The expansion of the course falls behind schedule !
2001
- Number of members: 380
- Gustave Chable, our head pro is appointed Director of our golf course
- After 25 years of presidency, Jacques MacFarlane was elected Honorary President of the Club. Christophe Aumeunier succeeds to the presidency
2002
- On 8 June 2002 the nine new holes, as well as our driving range, are opened
- The 2002 season is played over 18 holes, Par 70
2003
- Year of the official inauguration of the new championship course; the course has matured! Year marked by official ceremonies
- Eric Krol becomes the new Director of the Villars Golf Club. Jean-Marc Lenoir succeeds Daniel Cherix as green keeper
- Number of members: 485
2004
- There are numerous projects. Work is under way to improve the driving range and build new paths for golf carts. New machines are purchased.
2005
- Major consolidation of hole No. 16 is undertaken, the green is enlarged, as well as the area of play. The irrigation system is fully reviewed on the 9 new holes.
- After approval by the Club’s Ordinary General Meeting for the month of March, the Villars Golf Club resumes the management of the restaurant from 1 may 2005.
2006
- The Golf Club Villars welcomes its new Director, Mr Sébastien Pannatier.
2007
- Number of members: 520 including 70 juniors.
- The management of the restaurant is entrusted to Mr Joachim Gordo, Mr Joao Gordo and Mr José Da Costa.
2008
- The committee appoints Fabrice Ange as Director of the Villars Golf Club.
2009
- The paving of some golf cart paths and of the driving range, which was started in 2008, was completed at the begining of the season.
- Pierre Del Bono is the new Greenkeeper of the Villars Golf Club.
- Fred Lauquin succeeds Jaques Magnenat as Club Captain. |
